dig deep
Working out to Insanity over here again. I love this program! I never thought I would be someone who could motivate to work out at home, but being in the napping years with my daughter, I droppped my gym membership and delved into the world of workout dvds. Now my boys are used to seeing me sweat it out to Shaun T (the trainer) as he yells – “DIG DEEP!”. I completed the 60 day program over the summer and felt great afterwards. I was looking for my next challenge, and didn’t find it so let’s just say… I was on a break for awhile.
Last month I ordered Tracy Anderson’s Metamorphosis . It’s a 90 day program that has a 30 minute cardio dance (the same one for 90 days) and then 30 minutes of other body/muscle work that changes every 10 days. I was truly committed to earning Gwyneth’s/Madonna’s body, but after day 3 – I couldn’t move without serious pain in my hip flexors. I mean, ADVIL- type pain. I had to take some Advil before I could lie down and go to sleep! Plus, the diet book that comes along with it- in my mind- is reckless. I’m not a nutritionist but I read in a couple of reviews that it was about 700- 1000 calories a day. That could never work for me- because as many of you know— I LOVE TO EAT. Anyways, I am resigning myself to the fact that I am not going to have Ms. Paltrow’s body but at least I now know why!
What home workouts have you done that you like? Any really good workout dvd’s to suggest?

I haven’t done a home workout steadily since my “Callanetics” and Paula Abdul “Get Up and Dance” days!
Will be watching to see what other people come up with.
Good (bad?) to know about the Tracy Anderson workout–can now check that off the list, geez. At the gym I like Hip Hop Cardio, so I might try a DVD like that if I weren’t relying on classes at the gym.
Have you tried P90x? I haven’t done the program but did one of the workouts once and it is pretty intense. I’m not doing anything intense these days but will need this advice in a few months.
I haven’t as I am stumped where I would put the pull up bar! Plus I thought Insanity looked more fun. I may check it out soon.
I like Insanity too since it does not require any equipment and Shaun T. is a good motivator. I also like the Firm Express, http://www.firmdirect.com/firm/ecs/main/firm-express-get-thin-in-30.html
Hadley, Years ago Ali told me about The Firm. I didn’t realize they have the express now- will check it out- I really liked it.

Shaun T is crazy. I’m starting month 2 today of Insanity. That first week I thought no way but now Im into it. It’s easy to whip out a 40 minute workout with him. Not that it’s easy but easy to follow. I couldn’t do Tracy’s dance DVD, the choreography was way too difficut.
I know! But month two is 1 hour. Serious shock when I first turned it on! I longed for those 40 minute days!
