sue jackson’s steak marinade
June 19, 2009
I am grilling flank steak tonight and pulled out a recipe that I love for steaks. Thought I would share it as I always have these things in my pantry and fridge and it’s really tasty! It’s nice to have a recipe where you have everything on hand.
Place in a ziploc bag:
1/2 c. cooking oil
1/4 c. soy
2 T. vinegar
3 T. honey
1 1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. garlic (1-2 cloves minced)
Blend well. add meat. marinade 1-4 hours. remove meat and discard the marinade.
**Sue! You’re famous! Well, sort of!
What kind of cooking oil do you use? Soy sauce? and how big of a flank steak will this marinate?

I use canola oil or vegetable oil- either one will work. I grab a ziploc, put it in a pot so it “stands up” rather than having to hold it while pouring in liquids and just add the stuff. I use any soy sauce- and it marinades one flank- sometimes we have two in there- depends. I would just double it or triple the recipe if you have a lot. My kids LOVE it. I think it’s the honey that sears in to the outside when you grill it. Great the next day too. I would also make some cut marks into the flank before marinating it so it “soaks” in the marinade. Try it – it’s such a go to for me – easy.
Very delicious!
