feed the dream

August 3, 2009

ftd2Two tortillas. Three cups of coffee. This is what a normal day of food can be for a young Guatemalan child. My mom started a charity called Feed The Dream to help women and children receive one nutritious meal a day.  When my mom began this charity five years ago, she set out to feed 100 women and children in two remote Guatemalan villages and today Feed The Dream feeds 1000 women and children (a day!!) in ten remote villages and continues to expand it’s programming each year.  Today is the annual women’s golf  outing in Chicago. I am so proud of you mom and I hope your fundraiser was a success. Feed The Dream!

The sun was peaking out from behind the clouds as we finished golfing and entered a room brimming with fabulous silent auction items but most of all over-flowing with the love and passion your mom has for the impoverished villagers of Guatemala. She is an inspiration to every person there and most of all an example of what one person can accomplish to better the world and help those in need. It has always been an honor and privilege to call her my friend! I am so proud of her.
