taking charge

September 4, 2009

ccI need a new credit card. I am not interested in paying an annual fee, but I want good benefits.  What cards do you think are great? I am eyeing the Nordstrom’s Platinum card as I certainly shop there enough and could use a break by enjoying the rewards. Please write a quick comment if you have a card you love for the rewards!

I love my Banana Repbulic Visa Card! You get 5 reward points for every $1 you spend at Banana, Gap, Athleta, Piperlime and Old Navy and 1 pt. for puchases at other stores. When you reach 1000 pts. a $10 reward card is mailed to you – good for purchases at all their stores and online. Rewards can also be used during sale events! Other perks: no fees, birthday reward, special promotions, free shipping on purchases over $100 and when you spend $800 in a calendar year (within the gap stores) – free shipping on all purchases, free alterations at banana ~ great perk if you are petite 🙂

We are big fans of the Frontier Airlines MasterCard! You get 1 mile per dollar spent, 15,000 miles for your first purchase (= free ticket!) and tons of perks. We use it for everything so we have achieved Ascent status and get free checked bags, priority check-in & boarding, free in-flight DirecTV (a must with two kiddos!)… We used our miles to go to Napa AND Costa Rica last year. Not bad for a $50 annual fee. They do have a zero fee option as well for fewer miles.
