favorite places, rancho la puerta

September 16, 2009

rlpWe all have places we talk about going and think about going and hope to be going… well, here is one that every woman should visit at least once!! Rancho La Puerta is only one hour south of San Diego in Tecate, Mexico (also considered Baja California) and a totally incredible getaway. I was lucky that my mom is from San Diego so she knew about this place early on and has taken my sisters and me to enjoy some fun workouts and some mother/daughter bonding!  As Mexico’s tourism has been struggling, their deals have become ridiculously good!! I just received an email that the well-known Chicago-based chef, Rick Bayless, will be there in October to share his culinary tips!! How amazing is that??  Check out Rancho La Puerta’s website and consider making the trip this year.  This would be such a great girls trip, birthday splurge or simply a time away to refocus on health and feeling great. You won’t ever regret having a kid-free massage in the afternoon…

I always have THE BEST TIME there, especially with my daughters—whether 1 or 2 or 3 are with me. The tempo is whatever you want to make it. RLP has great deals now. Even when they don’t, it’s worth every penny. It’s tempting to spend all their inheritance there! Just kidding! With lots of love from your mom…..

Ixtapan Spa Hotel and Golf Resort is a 220 room 4 star all inclusive destination resort. Long famous for its organic treatments and fine spa cuisine, Ixtapan Spa Hotel and Golf Resort is discounting packages for the first time in its 60 years. From now until December 20, all packages are 20% off. From January 3-March 28, 2010 they are 10% off. Different from almost all Mexican spa resorts, Ixtapan includes 14 treatments in its 5 day/4 night spa classic treat and 21 spa treatments in its 8 day/7 night spa classic. Prices begin at $770 for the 5 day spa classic ( remember to take 20% off then 10% off). The price includes accommodation in spacious rooms, with marble bathrooms, all meals with ample choices of both menu and restaurant, spa treatments, exercise and yoga classes, am walks, tennis and golf lessons, bottled water, fruit and juice in the early am, and movies nightly. Extras are minimal: taxes are 16%, tips 10%. Sightseeing trips and items like drinks from the bar are so reasonable, it feels like a gift. Privately owned and carefully managed, the resort is famous amongst women’s business groups, spa aficionados, and girls getaways who get terrific group rates and even better group treatment
