faith

June 17, 2010

So many of us are going through things that require faith.  I took this quote with me when we moved from Chicago to Colorado and I have kept it near my bed to look at from time to time.  It was a sermon we heard at Kenilworth Union Church in Illinois.

“Faith is better understood as a verb than as a noun, as a process than as a procession. It is on-again-off-again rather than once-and-for-all. Faith is not being sure where you’re going but going anyway… Faith is homesickness.  Faith is a lump in the throat. Faith is less a position on than a movement toward, less a sure thing than a hunch. Faith is waiting” – Frederick Buechner
