tailgating with sparty

July 20, 2010

My friend Jill T told me about this great appetizer!  She and her family are HUGE MSU fans!  Jill wrote:

Mine is super easy but I don’t measure anything-  here it is:

1- Whole wheat Boboli pre-made pizza crust
1 – Red onion
2 – teaspoons dried thyme
salt and pepper to taste
1/4 – 1/2 lb Gouda cheese grated
1 tablespoon EVOO or less
small hand full of corn meal

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F

Caramelize red onion and dried thyme  (20 minutes or so) until they are really really sweet
Sprinkle EVOO and corn meal on a pizza pan or cookie sheet spread around
Add Boboli (thin crust and or whole wheat makes it extra  crunchy!)

Once onions are caramelized and cool spread on top of pizza crust, add desired amount of  Gouda cheese  & Salt and Pepper to taste…

Bake for 10 -15 min until cheese is melted!  Slice and serve – it’s yummy and a Hawkins Family tailgate staple  : )
