all those holiday cards

December 14, 2010

What do you do with all your holiday cards?  I love seeing them all but they usually are all in one basket at my house.  I know I could do better! In the meantime, Simplified Bee has done a post that contains lots of simple ideas.

I have a great card holder that is long and sits on my mantle, so it’s also my mantle decoration. Three prongs deep all at different levels; it looks so festive as it gets filled and lets you see all the pics. Then I actually scrapbook ALL my picture cards in albums, and have since Kate was born. I leave the albums out for the holidays and every year I LOVE looking at how all the kids have changed! I think the key for display is the right card holder!

Last year I hung all of our cards on our terribly outdated Fridge since the fridge is now long gone and in Fridge heaven. I now hang and string them in our hallways with ribbon wooded clothes pin and let the girls hang them up so they can look at them all! They love it and it’s a fun thing to do when we bring the mail in!

I saw this idea in InStyle…and love it. The website Photojojo has magnetic photo rope (and lots of other cute goodies–I saw a coffee mug shaped like a zoom lens that I am going to get for my father-in-law). It hangs with a push pin and you can use the magnets to hold the cards up. Once the holidays are over I am going to use it for Eli’s artwork (or just put them away!).

This year I just taped up 3 strands of about 4 foot long pretty 1 1/2 inch ribbon on a bare space on the wall and used clothespins to hang up the cards. It turned out really cute 🙂
